My visit to South Carolina

For some strange reason, i am not able to download any pictures to this blog. I have some neat pictures to show and started to down load them but then it quit. So in my second post you can see some of the old buildings and the river walk we went on in Savannah Georgia. It was an awesome place to visit. I had a blast with the grandkids and Doyle and i felt like kids ourselves walking through the candy store.
Oh bummer. I wanted to show the picture of the low country boil Reena made for us with fresh shrimp caught that day. mmmm that was the best meal ever. and i had the best picture of her and I hugging right when i got there. One of her neighbors was walking by and said oh that just gave me the chills. Later Reena told me her mom had just passed away. That made our visit so much more emotional.
I missed them so much, can't wait to see them and hug them and squeeze them again.
I wanted to show Akalia posing in front of the River boat and Merrick hiding behind the couch picking his nose. LOL! It was all so fun.

Freezin my butt off at Bear Lake

I have a little tune i was singing and dancing to while i was freezin my butt off at Bear Lake trying to stay warm. But we had fun. The view is beautiful and it was nice to be at beautiful Bear Lake where i grew up.
I tried to get a picture of the moon. It was so pretty shining over the lake. Oh man the colors were amazing.

I have 3 followers. That makes me happy that someone else actually looked at my blog. Thanks Nutalia, I'm not sure if i spelled that right but thanks.

50 in 2 days

So i just thought i would add a post and thank everyone for coming to my party on Sunday. I especially want to thank Cheli for giving such a great party. She came out of her shell and it was so fun. Everyone said they had a good time. The questioneer was fun. I am proud of Cheli for how far she has come.
I love her to pieces and want her to know how special she is to me.
I alos want to thank the Olsons for making me feel welcome into their family. I am so lucky to have all of them in my life. They make life fun and "Sporting" LOL! I am trying to get use to all the sports. I have seen more games of all kinds in the last 2 years than i have seen in my life time. Who would have ever thought that i would be watching basketball, softball, and soccer the way i fought about it with my brothers. Ha! well i guess i'm getting my fill of it now. Funny how much i am enjoying it all.

Miss Reena/Craig and the grandkids so far away. I hope i can go see them in Nov. Give me courage. :(

Well Happy Birthday to me in 2 days. A 1/2 of a century old, i can't believe it. I still feel like i am 25. :)
and act like it sometimes too. lol

Happy Day!!

Color Challenge # 17

Dawn is having another color challenge. I am so glad. I missed the last one. These colors were interesting. Didn't think i would like them at first. But i think they look good together now. LOL!
Enjoy!
I have to tell you about this ribbon. I found a container FULL of ribbon at D.I.(Deseret Industries) and I was trying to decide weather to buy it or not for $5. I finally decided to and boy am i glad i did. It was chucked full of the neatest ribbons that i can't wait to use. This little lacy beaded ribbon is one of them, I have a pink one too. How fun is that. I used Pure Poppy, Aqua Mist, Dark Chocolate, and Kraft paper from Papertrey Ink.
Stamps used were Background Basics Text Style, and my new vintage labels that i just looooove!

Adventures of Doyle's Youth

Sit back and grab a soda to sip on. I have to tell you about my adventure today i went on with Doyle. I think i have married a crazy man. I wish i would have had my camera with me.
He keeps telling me about this bridge in Nibley that he dove off of when he was about 15 and almost broke his neck. Its one of those old black train bridges. You can see the bridge from the road and we have been talking about walking back to it for a year now. So today after lunch when he said what do you want to do i said lets walk back to that bridge you are always talking about.
I had on capris and he had on shorts.
Luckily i had my tennis shoes with me.
He parked off the side of this dirt road and we started to walk down it. I thought it would be dirt road all the way there. Boy was i wrong.
We got to the old Pea Vinery as he calls it and the road ended.
He told me how and where the train use to run by it and he use to play there as a kid. Then he starts trapsing off into the weeds that are now up to my waist like nothing and i am lagging farther and farther behind. As we get back to the corner there is a fence. First an electric fence, and right behind it a fence made out of, how do i explain this, like a cattle fence but it is about 7 ft. high. and it has thistles all along it taller than it. He just hops over the electric fence and stomps the thistles out of the way and climbs up over the other fence and i am standing there thinking there is no way i am getting over that electric fence, and then how in the heck am i going to get over the next one. I am trying to stop him so he can help me and finally i am yelling at him, he finally comes back and steps down on the electric fence so i can climb over it. I am not sure if it was on or not, i didn't dare check. Then you should have seen me trying to climb the next fence. I must be as crazy as he is. Almost 5o and i'm out in a weed patch climbing fences. Well we trapes on in the weeds that are now higher than ever, going places no one has been in a decade and he veres off to the left. Here the walking is easier because we finally end up in an alfalfa field. We walk along there for a while and i am thinking to myself we are moving away from the bridge, not to it. He decides to go through the brushes again and finds another fence, OMG! another fence. Luckily, it was a small wire one, and he pushes the weeds away and climbs over it and there is a house, so we have to climb over another fence immediately to the right which is a small wood fence that the pine tree was hiding and that led us down a small path where there was a tiny stream running and into a horse pasture.
This was kind of down in a dip away from the house. Thank goodness, we might of had a farmer come out with his shotgun. We walk over to this other fence at the end of the pasture and I take one look and tell him he is crazy and i am not going that way and push him out of the way and head back across the pasture and up to the fence we just crossed only this time it is up by the front of the house and i didn't care who saw me i was going up by the house and down the dirt road that i thought for sure would lead us out of there. No more jungle adventures for me.
So he follows me and we get on the road and go around the corner and guess what is right there in front of us?
The Bridge.
I wanted to strangle him.
I told him he was going to go back and get the car and come and get me on the dirt road.
After we hung out at the bridge, he took off after the car and i headed down the dirt road.
It wound down around the river and over to some new houses and out on the highway.
I couldn't believe it. The easiest way to the bridge and he has to take me through some strange jungle the back way to try and find it.
Now that i look back, i have to smile. That is the adventurist side of Doyle that i love and that keeps him going.
He loved every minute of it. I think he liked the walk back to the car the best because he took another path through the thicket and got all scratched up and burrs were stuck to him everywhere. I just keep shaking my head when i think about it. He has had a smile on his face all day. It really was a wonderful day. What a great guy.

Raspberry Suite Challenge #14

Hi everyone, Today i am working on Dawn McVey's color challenge and i am excited to share my card with you.

Funny story. I'm looking for a cute flourish to stamp on the text background i made and saw this one that i used but didn't know it was a pretty dove until i stamped it. DUH! you would think i was blind or something. But wow was i surprised and PLEASANTLY surprised I must say.

Enjoy!

For this card I used Plum Pudding, Scarlet Jewel, rustic cream and bitty box basics paper from PTI.
The ribbon is scarlet Jewel and vintage cream twill form PTI.
Cream twine, PTI
I stamped the rustic cream with Background basics text style from PTI with Scarlet Jewel Ink, all PTI.
The Peace…be still is from the Heavenly Medley in Scarlet Jewel also PTI
I think the only thing that isn’t Paper Trey Ink is the eyelets. They are from my stash of long ago.
